June Yellow

It’s late in the crab season and there aren’t any big ones left — just “June yellow” (六月黄), the younglings with a thin shell, and lots of yellow meat (tomalley).


In the restaurant, the boss on the first floor yells at the chef on the second floor, interrupted by a girl who wants to feed the dog some chicken: “No no no,” says the owner: “He’s picky, only eat braised meat.”
