We’re eating our Christmas meal, two fish and four hairy crabs.
Eva: “When I was young and some families married, we’d go to a restaurant, no hotel, and if they served crab, well such a family was really rich. But eating crab is too slow, takes too much time, so we first ate all the other things. We’d save the crab for last, take it home in a bag.”
Me: “When I was young, I thought people who took the plane to go on holiday were really really rich. We only went to France, by car.”
“Plane? I never took the plane when I was young. Only a boat.”
“A boat, to where?”
“To Shanghai.”
